Well here we are.
2017. I know I've been AWOL for a bit, but let's just say that moving into a house the same week as Christmas with a baby who has started crawling makes life a little frantic. And as much as I enjoy sharing my brand of crazy with you I did not want to add to the frenetic nature of the holiday season, so we quietly took the month of December off.
But now that it's January I am ready (well maybe ready isn't the right word. Determined, maybe?) to jump back in with both feet. Tis the season for resolutions, and while I am not a resolution girl I did resolve to set some goals for this new year (see what I did there?). For the last several years I have set a theme for the year, but I usually keep it to myself. This year I am sharing it with all of you in the hopes that it will help keep me accountable. This year's theme -- are you ready for it? -- is
I want to live with more intentionality in my life. I have a seven month old and already the time is flying by, so I want to make sure I fill our time together with as much good as I can. I also have found myself lost in the morass of daily life as a stay at home mom. I love it, but I am lacking in the routine and structure that I used to have. Yes, Pasha himself is on a schedule, but I am kind of floundering about and I want to address that. So to that end, here are my goals.
31 Days of Yoga. This is a short term goal, but one I have planned on for two years. I could not take part last year because I was struggling with the physical aspects of growing a baby, but now I have the very real physical strain of caring for that baby. We are two days into the challenge and I am really feeling it, but I have high hopes for how I will feel in the days to come.
Read the Bible in A Year. I don't discuss my faith very often in this space, but it is very important to me and an area of my life that is easily lost in the daily grind. This is a goal that Chris and I are pursuing together as we both feel the need for more discipline in our lives.
Read with Purpose. Really this is just my way of saying I will be completing the Modern Mrs Darcy reading challenge for 2017. I have started mapping out what I will read for the Reading for Fun challenge, but I would love to also complete the Reading for Growth challenge as well. This is one I'm still playing with and I'd love to hear from anyone else what they are planning to read this year. I'll probably do a lot of audio books for this since I've been reading the same novel for two months (Margaret Atwood's Hag Seed).
Only Buy Yarn in Person. I anticipate this will be the hardest goal for me. I love buying yarn online and receiving happy knitting mail. However, we are on an even more restricted budget this year than last and I already have a nice stash from which to knit (I should know, I just moved it). I am not saying that I won't buy yarn at all, but if I have to drive to a store to purchase yarn you can bet it will be with purpose.
Write More. This one has a few parts, but what it comes down to is that I want this space to be a regular source of information and entertainment. I hesitate to say this because what if I fail, but the whole point is to hold myself accountable, so here it goes. I want to write two posts a week and submit at minimum one article proposal a month. I have a few pieces that will be published later this year that I am really excited about and I want to build on that momentum. So this is where I need your help. What are you guys interested in reading in this space? I mean I can go into great detail about the excitement of solid food poop around here, but I don't think that is what you came here for. Think it over and let me know?
Do you have any goals, themes, or resolutions for this year? What are your plans to rock 2017?
