Looking Back

So we've managed to make it through another year!

Of course 2014 has decided to take me out with it, so I'm lying on the couch with a terrible cold, trying not to infect the world around me. I doubt I'm having much luck.

I've been hearing a lot about how hard 2014 has been for so many, and it is making me so grateful for the year we've had. We moved out of our apartment in sketchville to a place we can both afford and not fear for our safety. I went to my first knitting retreat, and then I went to another, and found a wonderful group of knew friends. We spent time with family and friends, making a great many new memories.

We read. A lot. Fiction, non-fiction, books we loved and some we didn't. I even rediscovered my love of comic books and ventured into some new titles. I don't have the count of how many books Chris read this year, but I more than exceeded my goal of 25 with 46. I'm not sure what my goal will be for next year, but I'm thinking of tackling one of the more looming titles on my to-read list.

Oh, and of course there was knitting. I fell far short of last year's FO count, but I took on a lot more challenging projects for myself.

This year I knit my most garments yet, with the seven you see here and one more secret sweater that you'll get to see soon. Plus I knit several pairs of socks, some hats, and a few gifty items. But it's the sweaters of which I am proudest. I never thought of myself as a garment knitter until this year and I am pretty excited by this. I even have some sweaters quantities in the stash! Does this mean I'm finally growing up?

Overall, it has been a great year. I look forward to seeing you all in 2015!
