Every November my husband participates in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month).

If you haven't heard of NaNo, the basic idea is that you write 50,000 words in the month of November, ideally as part of a new original novel. I tried it the first year we were married, but I didn't make it. Actually my character did not make it. I was so annoyed that I killed her off, thus dramatically ending the novel.

There have been spin-off projects that have come out of NaNo, and this year I think I'm going to take part in NaKniSweMo (National Knit [a] Sweater Month). The same idea as NaNo, one just needs to knit 50,000 stitches on a sweater instead of writing. Not too hard, right?

Maybe. I'm leaving for the Carolina Fiber Frolic today and my dedication to the sweater is sure to be tested.

Have you ever attempted a "NaN" or other monthly challenge?
